Your mission as a Senior Test Engineer

You will be working in a team focused on the core components within FRISS, innovating the Screening Engine. This team is responsible for the applications needed to configure and generate the FRISS score to prevent and detect insurance fraud.

As a Senior Test Engineer, your mission is to ensure the software the team builds meets the expected quality standards that results in an amazing customer experience in this product area.

What will have you achieved as a Senior Test Engineer at FRISS after one year?

You have been a valuable part of the team that focused on the Screening Engine by extending and innovating the expert rules and intelligence.

Your team has developed and implemented new innovative ideas to improve the logic behind calculating and configuring the FRISS score for our customers. You and your team have been a key-player in phasing out legacy components to make room for innovation.

You have been a key-player in the team by ensuring that what has been built by the Software Engineers is of excellent quality regarding the requirements of the product backlog items. You did this by:

  • Translating functional or technical requirements to test scripts and test scenarios
  • Identifying any inconsistencies or illogical requirements in functional or technical specifications
  • Configuring, developing, maintaining, and executing automated scripts
  • Applying test methodology, processes, procedures, standards, and tools used by the team
  • Executing different test types (functional test, load & performance test, stress test, security test, regression test etc.)
  • Monitoring test execution progress and providing metrics and reports to the team
  • Assisting developers in re-creating defects as needed

Apart from that you have also used your unique position working together with Test Engineers from the other teams (Testers Guild) and shared your knowledge/ideas/improvements regarding you discipline.

You took initiative during stand-ups and you encouraged colleagues to get the best out of themselves and the team(s). What does this mean on a daily day basis?

– You have participated in stand-ups, sprint reviews and internal knowledge sharing

What was the most complexed product that you’ve tested in your life? Think about your role in this process and the influences of your team members. Was it a team effort? Was the product brand new or did you have to deal with legacy? In other words, how would you see yourself as a Test Engineer? Are you the one that likes to be the quality gate keeper and improve software in an innovative and functional way? Are you in for challenges like scalability, renew old coding and start new changes to improve? Are you a team player who believes in working on an Agile way? Do you trust team members and like to share learnings? We want to empower you to really believe in our product, so much so that you work on it AND own it (with the possibility to become a shareholder of a global player). You will be part of a team of 4 experienced engineers and a Product Owner. Every two weeks you’ll be planning together for the new sprint, reflect on the last one and do refinements for next sprints. And you’ll be interacting with the other teams as well on related components and dependencies.

Who are you?

You are someone who is up for a challenge – you have to be an entrepreneurial tester! With at least 5 years of experience with test automation in your backpack and you have at least:

  • Solid technical background (Software Development, Test Automation)
  • Good communication / articulation / collaboration skills
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to understand sophisticated products, solutions, and problems
  • Good understanding of SDLC/STLC
  • Practical experience in REST web services (API) testing (Postman/Swagger preferably)
  • Experience with version control systems (git)
  • Knowledge of SQL databases
  • Experience with Azure components (containers, blobs etc)

Finally, it’s a nice touch if you have experience with the following tools & techniques:

  • Azure DevOps (boards, repos, pipelines)
  • JavaScript and Cypress framework
