Someone who will be responsible for delivering our products on time and on budget with excellent performance.
Your mission as VP Engineering @ FRISS
You’ll determine the best “how” of the product(s): the strategic approach to development and delivery. As a VP-E you will connect the what to the how. You make sure that your teams are able to use the right technology, build the best modern software architecture using microservices, messaging, big data, machine learning. You focus on empowering your development teams and delivering product features in a timely fashion and according to the technical vision. You are a coach for your team both on personal as technical level.
What did you achieve as a VP of Engineering after one year?
You have gradually built effective development teams in a global dimension, with appropriate and diverse mix of styles, perspectives and experiences. You are able to involve and align all of them. Even more, you connect with, and encourage them to express their opinions so that the teams are really connected. The morale is high, wins are shared and team efforts are rewarded. Thanks to your impact, there is always a virtuous dialogue and collaboration (not only technical) among the teams (software engineering, devops/infrastructure and data engineering). Concrete examples that you worked on:
- Converted the product vision and roadmap into well executed products
- Developed state-of-the-art applications tailored to process, analyze and visualize insurance data.
- Shaped your experience in a way that connects within FRISS and important the needs of our customers.
You and your FRISS team
You have a backpack full of experience and know what you talk about. You are humble and straight forward, you are open for others opinions & experience. You listen and are able to start discussions where needed. Our development team contains over 50 people who are located here or overseas. Your direct responsibility will be over 5 Team leads. The core of our DNA is honesty, and we believe that the only way to express yourself is transparently, by honoring commitments and knowing how to feel the pulse of your teams. You will be immersed in one of the most dynamic and multicultural environment of the Netherlands, where dedication to work and creativity are equally important.
Who are you?
You have a solid and proven experience in a leading tech role (Lead Engineer, Director of Engineering or similar) over multiple teams. You brought to life software products you can be proud of. Technical skills are in your DNA, you know your way in technologies like .NET, C#, Python, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, SQL Server, Redis and more. You are experienced in implementing cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud). You keep up to date with the technological progress and are able to quickly adapt to a fast-changing and rapidly growing company: you do this by looking beyond the obvious. You always deal constructively with problems even when they do not have clear solutions or outcomes. Quite on the contrary, you are able to define the issue accurately before moving to its solution, by analyzing multiple and diverse sources of information. Obstacles and setbacks are things that you see as challenges. Furthermore, your business acumen and budget management allow you to manage the TCO, allocate properly the resources of your team(s) AND you know how to deal with stakeholder management within the whole company.
